On the Value of Qualifications: Why go to University or Technikon? Just knowing how to do something is not enough, because job descriptions are constantly changing. Understanding what is behind what you know gives you an extra edge, because you can adapt faster to change. This paper explains some of the forces behind the rapid changes in computer technology and how education, as opposed to training, adds to your ability to cope with change.
